Carpentry Program
CONSTRUCTING FUTURES
Trades Training through Sustainable Homebuilding
Building Skills, Building Homes
Across New Brunswick, the demand for affordable, energy-efficient, and climate-resilient housing continues to grow, while skilled labour shortages create significant challenges for housing delivery.
Recognizing the connection, in partnership with the Carpentry Millwright College of NB (CMC), Habitat NB launched its Carpentry Trades Training Program in 2024. What began as a small pilot project in Fredericton has quickly become a cornerstone of Habitat NB's homebuilding efforts.
By combining hands-on construction experience, specialized energy-efficiency training, and industry mentorship, the program is strengthening both housing capacity and workforce development across the province. Now expanding to serve 32 students annually across Fredericton, Moncton, and Saint John, the program reflects the power of collaboration.
